Project Summary
DR Anderson was selected as General Contractor for this New Maintenance facility continuing our relationship with Potash Corporation (PCS). PCS’s Weeping Water facility mines and processes limestone as an animal feed ingredient. DRA has been fortunate to have been involved in several recent projects including a new load-out facility, office renovations, and safe havens.
This Facility was constructed along the banks of Weeping Water creek near the entrance to PCS’s underground mine. The facility is designed for as a maintenance shop for PCS’s mining equipment which includes articulated haul-trucks, loaders, and other specialty mining equipment. Special features include energy efficient heat-pumps as well as a rainwater cistern collector for reuse of rainwater. Captured rainwater can be used for equipment washing and irrigation.
Employee safety is our number one priority on any project and especially when working on an industrial site such as this. Since this is a mining operation, our work site must comply with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). This requires employees and subcontractors to complete specific site training, new miner training, annual refreshers, and specific task training. DRA’s Site Superintendent and Project Manager work closely with PCS’s Safety personnel to ensure all workers onsite meet training requirements and are working in a safe manner. Additionally, several MSHA quarterly inspections have been made on DRA’s worksites and no major violations have been cited. |
