Project Summary
DR Anderson was selected as general contractor for a third time at PCS’ Weeping water facility. DRA has previously completed PCS’ Raymond Mill installation as well as PCS’ Safe Haven project where DRA constructed multiple storm shelters meeting FEMA requirements.
The Load-out facility consists of a new addition over the existing load-out facility. The addition rises 120’ above the existing load-out and includes two 16’ diameter bulk storage tanks. These tanks will hold 300tons of PCS’ feed supplement products. This addition will cut PCS’s load-out time by about 75% for each trailer load that is shipped out of the facility.
The steel structure includes four foot diameter piers drilled down and into the underlying bedrock on site. In addition to the challenging site conditions, the project is being constructed while maintaining plant operations. A temporary deck has been constructed to accommodate PCS customer’s requirements for loading during normal working hours.
PCS’ Weeping Water site is an operating mine site and is regulated by Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) part 48 requirements. DRA site and management personnel completed MSHA training and prepared a site specific Part 48 plan. With this training and plan in place, DRA can work on any site regulated by MSHA.
