Project Summary

DR Anderson has completed another project with the LDS church. This project was a new Meeting House for the Council Bluffs Stake in Glenwood Iowa. Past projects included the Blair Meeting House addition as well as other renovations and small projects throughout the Omaha Metropolitan area.

The facility was completed in nine months and kept on schedule despite an unusually wet construction season and challenging winter. DR Anderson was able to keep progress moving and the facility was opened for services as scheduled.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, the LDS Church has certain preferred subcontractors and vendors referred to as Value Managed Relationships (VMRs). These VMRs are spread across the United States and require extra planning and coordination by DRA’s management staff and Superintendent. The challenge is to balance the project schedule with the limitations of subcontractors coming from all over the country which allows for very little flexibility in task timing.

This building was a distinctive design for the LDS, so many of the building’s components/features were unfamiliar to the VMRs and design team. This uniqueness required careful coordination with DRA and subcontractors. The use of electronic measures, such as electronic submittals, ftp sites and associated software, greatly enhanced the communications among all Team Members and contributed to the project’s success.
